BONE DENSITY SCREENING

HEALTHWAVE DIAGNOSTECHS (HWD) specializes in MOBILE bone density and “fracture-risk” screening.  A deteriorating bone mass may be an indication of risk for osteopenia or osteoporosis.

This service is now available with the convenience of in-clinic/in-store/in-office assessments.  The highly accurate ultrasound bone strength test is performed by a technician specifically trained and certified to operate the Sunlight Omnisense 8000S, which is the only ultrasound computer capable of multi-site (wrist, shin, finger bone) testing.  As a means of validation, this bone sonometry device is providing the ultrasound test data for the Canadian Multicenter Osteoporosis Study (www.camos.org).  

For each scan performed, the client will receive a folder which contains the following:

1. a full color, computerized report (see samples) showing their T&Z Scores, plus fracture risk,
2. general suggestions on healthy dietary and lifestyle habits to minimize the risk of osteoporosis,
3. Omnisense 8000S informational hand-out.

CARDIOVASCULAR  RISK  SCREENING

HEALTHWAVE DIAGNOSTECHS (HWD) specializes in MOBILE Atherosclerosis/ Arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) screening, using the “Arterial Stiffness Index (ASI)” and “Ankle Brachial Index (ABI)” screening tests.  The ASI has been clinically shown to correlate with the risk for coronary artery disease, while the ABI indicates a risk for peripheral artery disease.   Both of these conditions are major contributors to heart attacks and strokes. 

This service is now available with the convenience of in-clinic/in-store/in-office assessments.  The highly accurate pulse wave measurement is performed by a technician specifically trained and certified to operate the CardioVision MS-2000. This is a non-invasive electronic device that uses a blood pressure cuff to measure vascular dynamics.  It is approved by Health Canada and the FDA for medical screening, and is being utilized by some of the most prestigious health and wellness facilities in North America.  

For each test performed, the client will receive a folder which contains the following:

1. a full color, computerized report (see samples) showing their Arterial Stiffness, Blood Pressure, Pulse Pressure, Pulse Rate, and whether an Arrhythmia or irregular heart beat exists.
2. general suggestions on healthy dietary and lifestyle habits to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease
3. CardioVision  information hand-out

All test data can be further discussed with staff and/or their healthcare practitioner(s).  The Certified Healthwave Diagnostechs Technician is not authorized to, and therefore will not, provide specific medical recommendations.  It will be made clear that, while the screening test is a clinical quality assessment, the copy provided to the client is for informational purposes only, and can only be fully interpreted in conjunction with their complete medical file and consultation with their health advisor(s).
